The Jets
One of the coolest bands of the 80's were The Jets. Their music was a cool blend of pop, r&b, electronica, pop/rock, and contemporary ballads.
One of the most popular family bands since the introduction of the Jackson 5 and The Osmonds, The Jets made their public debut in 1985 on the MCA Record label.
The Jets had a number of hits, including:
Crush On You
You Got It All
Cross My Broken Heart
Rocket 2 U
Make It Real
I Do You
Sendin' All My Love which only went to #88 on the Hot 100
Leading vocals by Elizabeth Wolfgramm on ballads You Got It All and Make It Real were #1 hits on the adult contemporary charts while The Same Love reached #15 and Somebody to Love Me reached #35 on the same chart. They were nominated for a Grammy award in 1988 for the song "Rocket 2 U".
The group is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and consisted of 8 members who are the oldest of 17 children:
LeRoy, born July 19, 1965, played the electric guitar.
Eddie, born August 14, 1966, played the tenor saxophone, percussion.
Eugene, born September 24, 1967, sang and played the conga, alto saxophone.
Haini, born January 25, 1968, played bass guitar.
Rudy, born March 1, 1969, played the drums.
Kathi, born September 6, 1970, played the keyboards and percussion.
Elizabeth, born August 19, 1972, sang and played keyboards.
Moana, born October 13, 1973, sang and played keyboards. Their parents Mike and Volke Wolfgramm were originally from Tonga and are of German and Tongan ancestry. |
